New Brunswick Provost

Welcome Message

The Provost for Rutgers University–New Brunswick is responsible for strategic faculty development and excellence. A strong and vibrant faculty is central to the mission of a great university.  In addition, the recruitment and hiring of new faculty is an enormous investment of resources in the right individual who ideally will be here for 20–30 years.  Recruiting and hiring well, therefore, has significant and long-term impact for the institution.

The Provost reports to the Chancellor who is the chief academic and budgetary officer for Rutgers–New Brunswick, and works with faculty members, deans, and department chairs on faculty development across the University.

Rutgers has evolved from 1766, when it was first chartered as Queen’s College, one of the nine colonial colleges established before the American Revolution. Now a 21st century public research powerhouse, Rutgers–New Brunswick, the only land-grant institution among those original colonial colleges, now enrolls more than 40,000 students with more than 2,000 faculty and instructional staff. Our faculty come from all corners of the world and excel in disciplines from Aerospace Engineering to Women and Gender Studies. We are proud to be Rutgers’ flagship institution and pleased to be educating students from New Jersey and the world.
